The city's founder required red tile roofs and whitewashed stucco. New buildings and major remodels downtown, at North Beach and in the Pier Bowl still follow that style. A tile entry catches sand in its grout. A courtyard door lets in whatever the wind carries off the street. On each visit we vacuum the mats, sweep the grout lines at the entry and wipe the door glass. Once a month the entry tile gets a detailed clean of its own.

Sunday market mornings downtown

A farmers market fills the 200 block of Avenida Del Mar every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Studios on that block cannot rely on curb access on Sunday morning. If your weekend classes start early, we clean on Saturday evening. The room is ready before the stalls go up. Larger events close Avenida Del Mar now and then. The city trolley then moves its drop off to Ola Vista and Avenida Victoria. We move our visit to a day when the street is open.

Extra sand near the San Clemente Pier

The city has spent two decades preparing a beach sand restoration project centered on the pier. Sand is placed on the beach during active construction. More sand on the beach means more sand on the sidewalks of the Pier Bowl. It also means more in the studio entries above it. We dry mop the practice room before any damp mop touches it. The corners nearest the door get their own pass.

Small units in Los Molinos

Los Molinos is an industrial district that the city describes as a small business incubator. A studio in a small unit there has a short walk from the lot and neighbors with very different work. We keep the visit inside your unit and plan it after the neighbors have gone home. In a small unit with one door and no lobby, all the dirt lands on one mat, so we vacuum it on both sides.

We leave saunas, pools and locker room showers that need specialist care out of a San Clemente visit. The visit does not cover mats and props either, unless we agree in writing. Courtyards, outdoor stairs and shared patios are outside the visit as well.
