Each Labor Day weekend the Orange International Street Fair brings about 500,000 visitors to the Plaza, according to the American Planning Association. Old Towne studios can book a visit just before the fair weekend and another right after it. Saturday morning visits stay off the schedule unless you ask for one.

Leaves from the Plaza trees

The Plaza park has mature trees, some planted in the late 1800s. Their leaves drift into the doorways around the circle. A studio entry collects them along the threshold and under the mat. On every visit we lift the mat, sweep under it and vacuum it. The leaves stay in the doorway and out of the practice room. In the busiest leaf weeks a few reach the shoe cubbies as well. They come out on the same pass.

Newer buildings in Uptown Orange

Uptown Orange sits at the west end of the city, near the 5, 57 and 22 freeways. It has high rise offices and recently built apartments. A studio there has newer finishes and a building manager. That usually means vendor rules and a request for insurance. We work inside the building's hours and provide a certificate of insurance that matches what it asks for. The city also asks new Uptown projects to keep access to the Santa Ana River Trail. Runners from that trail bring its dust to studio doors nearby.
