Wet sand after a morning at Doheny

Doheny State Beach has a surf break at its north end. Wet sand clings to everything. A student who surfs there before class brings wet sand on the feet and in the bag. On a damp mop, that sand works like sandpaper on a sealed floor. So we dry mop the whole practice room before any water touches it. The sand in the cubbies gets emptied out, not wiped around.

Festival weekends and the summer trolley season

The city runs its summer trolley from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Each March the Festival of Whales fills the harbor and the Lantern District. Busy weekends put more sand on the sidewalks and more people at every door. If you add classes for visitors in those weeks, tell us. We will quote an extra visit or a longer one. On the parade morning the harbor lots fill early, and the event page asks visitors to arrive before 9 a.m. We keep that morning clear of visits.
