Post-Construction Cleaning Checklist for New Offices and Studios

August 30, 2026

A new office is not finished when the builders leave. Fine dust settles on every surface, so a final clean is the last step before the space is handed over. This checklist shows who does what and in what order.

What the contractor removes first

  • Debris, packaging and leftover materials
  • Heavy waste and anything hazardous

What the cleaning company does

  1. Remove protective sheeting and floor protection, and dispose of light debris
  2. Dust from the top down: ceiling fixtures, vents, ledges, shelves, then baseboards
  3. Clean window glass, tracks and frames
  4. Clean cabinets, counters, sinks and restrooms inside and out
  5. Wipe doors, frames, switches and handles
  6. Vacuum and mop every floor, with detail along the edges
  7. A final walk with the contractor or property manager

Timing

Book the final clean after painting and flooring are finished and before furniture and equipment arrive. A second light clean right before move-in catches dust that settles after the first one.

What to ask a vendor

Ask whether the quote is per project or per square foot, what is excluded, and whether a second visit is included. Doctor Clean quotes post construction work per project, because the condition of the space matters more than its size. See post construction cleaning.
